Discover Traditional Fujian Noodles and Hakka Lui Cha in Jinjang Baru

KUALA LUMPUR, April 2 — A new restaurant specialising in classic Fujian noodles and Hakka lui cha has just opened its doors in Taman Jinjang Baru, quickly becoming a favourite among local food enthusiasts looking for authentic traditional flavours.

Restoran Hua Wei Fang, located in the heart of Jinjang Baru, launched its full menu this week, inviting diners to sample beloved dishes from Fujian cuisine alongside the aromatic and healthful Hakka style lui cha, also known as “thunder tea rice.” The restaurant has already received positive feedback from visitors praising its rich broths, freshly prepared noodles, and fragrant herbal blends.

Fujian noodles, known for their umami‑rich broth and tender handmade noodles, remain a staple comfort food in many Chinese communities. At Hua Wei Fang, the signature bowl is prepared with slow‑simmered stock and prime toppings, creating a balanced and hearty experience that appeals to both longtime fans of Fujian cuisine and newcomers eager to explore regional Chinese dishes.

The restaurant’s Hakka lui cha is another standout item, featuring a colourful mix of rice, vegetables, nuts, and tea‑infused broth — a dish celebrated for its earthy flavours and nutritional benefits. Lui cha, meaning “thunder tea,” gets its name from the traditional rhythmic pounding of tea leaves, herbs, and grains, symbolising the energising and invigorating nature of the meal.

Owner Mr. Lim Wei Jie said the concept behind Hua Wei Fang is to preserve and share the authentic tastes of traditional Chinese cooking while catering to the diverse tastes of Kuala Lumpur’s food scene. “We want our guests to experience the depth of Fujian and Hakka flavours in every bowl,” Mr. Lim said, adding that the recipes are inspired by family traditions and generations of cooking knowledge.

Since opening, the restaurant has seen an enthusiastic turnout from both local residents and visitors from other parts of the Klang Valley. Many patrons have posted positive reviews on social media, highlighting the rich broth texture, fresh ingredients, and friendly service as key reasons to revisit.

Food bloggers and enthusiasts have also applauded Hua Wei Fang for filling a niche in the local food landscape, where authentic Fujian and Hakka cuisine options are relatively rare. Some reviewers noted that the restaurant’s attention to detail — from hand‑pulled noodles to carefully balanced herbal flavours — sets it apart from other eateries in the area.

The restaurant’s cosy interior and casual setting make it a popular choice for family meals, lunch gatherings, and weekend dinners. Diners can enjoy a variety of combinations, from simple noodle bowls to hearty multi‑dish meals that showcase the best of both Fujian and Hakka culinary traditions.

Beyond its signature Fujian Noodles and Hakka Lui Cha, the menu also features complementary side dishes and drinks that pair well with the main courses. Diners can expect traditional accompaniments such as braised egg, marinated vegetables, and house‑made teas.

As Restoran Hua Wei Fang continues to attract food lovers in Taman Jinjang Baru and beyond, its opening is seen as part of a broader trend in Kuala Lumpur’s dining scene — one that celebrates regional Chinese cuisines and encourages the preservation of culinary heritage through casual dining experiences.
