SELANGOR MB TO LEAD MALAYSIA’S HUMANITARIAN MISSION TO GAZA WITH GLOBAL SUMUD FLOTILLA 2.0

Kuala Kumpur – The Menteri Besar of Selangor, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, will lead Malaysia’s Emergency Humanitarian Mission to Gaza, heading the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 delegation scheduled to depart on April 5 (Sunday).

According to a statement from the Menteri Besar’s Office on Friday, Amirudin has been entrusted to represent Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in leading the mission organized by the Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (MAPIM).

This mission will carry 30 containers holding 374 tonnes of humanitarian aid to assist Palestinians facing increasingly severe conditions in Gaza.

Amirudin will first ensure the safe release of the aid containers in Cairo, Egypt, before chairing a special session at the Rafah border crossing to reaffirm Malaysia’s firm stance on the Gaza blockade. Following this, he will monitor the departure of the Sumud Nusantara delegation from the Port of Barcelona, Spain.

In a post on his official Facebook page, Amirudin requested prayers from Malaysians for the mission’s success, safety, and smooth operations. “I ask all Malaysians to pray that this mission succeeds, that our work is eased, and that all involved are protected by Allah SWT. Insha-Allah. Free Palestine,” he wrote.

Earlier, five Malaysian participants had departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Wednesday, with their identities kept confidential for security reasons.

This follows last year’s mission in August 2025, when Malaysia sent 34 activists to participate in GSF, 23 of whom entered Gaza’s Red Zone 3. They were detained by Israeli authorities on October 2 but were released and returned to Malaysia on October 7, 2025.
