Kuala Lumpur – Former U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stark 48-hour ultimatum to Iran, warning of severe consequences if Tehran fails to comply with Washington’s demands or reopen the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump reminded that he had previously given Iran a 10-day deadline to either reach a nuclear agreement or ensure the reopening of the vital oil shipping route.
“Time is running out—48 hours before hell will rain down on them,” Trump warned, escalating rhetoric amid an already volatile regional situation.
The warning follows earlier remarks on March 26, when Trump extended negotiations after Iran reportedly deployed 10 Pakistani-flagged oil tankers as a gesture of goodwill.
Tensions in the region have surged dramatically since the joint military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran on February 28. The attacks have reportedly resulted in over 1,300 casualties, including the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
In retaliation, Iran launched waves of drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as neighboring countries including Jordan and Iraq, and Gulf states hosting U.S. military assets.
The situation has placed the entire Middle East on high alert, with global markets closely watching developments—particularly due to the potential disruption of oil supply through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical energy chokepoints.
