Three Killed, One Seriously Injured After Volkswagen Hits Cement Lorry On Karak Highway

KUALA LUMPUR,MAY,2026 – Three men were killed while a woman was seriously injured after the car they were travelling in crashed into the rear of a cement lorry on the Kuala Lumpur-bound side of the Karak Highway early Friday morning.

The accident happened at KM34 of the Karak Highway near Kampung Sungai Chinchin and involved a Volkswagen car and a cement lorry. According to the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, the crash was reported at 2.07am.

Firefighters from the Selayang Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene at 2.35am and found four victims trapped inside the Volkswagen. Rescue personnel immediately carried out an operation to extricate all the victims from the vehicle.

The three male victims, believed to be in their 20s, were pronounced dead at the scene by Health Ministry personnel. The injured victim, a 27-year-old woman, suffered severe head injuries and a fractured left leg.

All four victims were removed from the wreckage by firefighters before being handed over to medical authorities for further action. The identities of the victims had not been detailed in the available report at the time of publication.

A total of six firefighters were involved in the rescue operation, supported by a Fire Rescue Tender and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services vehicle.

The fatal crash has once again placed attention on road safety along the Karak Highway, a major route frequently used by motorists travelling between Kuala Lumpur, Genting Highlands, Bentong and the East Coast.

Although the full cause of the crash has yet to be confirmed, the incident highlights the danger of high-speed highway travel during early morning hours, especially when visibility may be lower and driver fatigue can become a serious risk.

Rear-end collisions involving heavy vehicles such as lorries are often severe due to the difference in vehicle size, height and impact force. In this case, the force of the crash left all four occupants trapped inside the car, requiring assistance from rescue personnel.

Authorities are expected to conduct further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash, including vehicle movement, road conditions, possible speed factors and any available evidence from the scene.

The tragedy serves as another reminder for motorists to maintain a safe distance from heavy vehicles, reduce speed during low-visibility hours and remain alert when driving on highways late at night or early in the morning.

For now, the case remains a devastating road tragedy that claimed three young lives and left another victim seriously injured on one of Malaysia’s busiest highway routes.
