BPMB, MATRADE Team Up On RM700 Million BizConnect Initiative To Boost Malaysian Exporters

KUALA LUMPUR,MAY,2026 – Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd (BPMB) has partnered with the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) to accelerate Malaysia’s export ecosystem through more than RM700 million in strategic initiatives under the BizConnect with Exporters Programme.

The initiative is designed to strengthen business capabilities, enhance global competitiveness and support Malaysian companies seeking to expand into regional and international markets. According to BPMB, BizConnect is also aligned with the group’s role in driving measurable developmental impact through stronger business resilience, wider export participation and sustainable economic growth.

Under the programme, more than RM700 million in export-focused financing, protection and capacity-building solutions will be made available to accelerate export expansion, business internationalisation and global competitiveness. BPMB said the initiative supports its wider role in operationalising RM9 billion in strategic initiatives under Budget 2026.

BizConnect began with a successful pilot session in Kuala Lumpur involving 30 companies. The programme is expected to engage nearly 100 export-oriented and export-ready businesses across Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor Bahru.

Participating companies will receive end-to-end support, including access to tailored financing solutions, export advisory services, market intelligence, strategic partnerships, ecosystem linkages and capacity-building programmes. These services are aimed at helping companies improve their readiness before entering or expanding in overseas markets.

BPMB said the programme gives businesses access to a comprehensive suite of solutions, including the Jaguh Serantau programme, Business Exports Programme, Export Leap Scheme and Malaysia Global Connect Go Export Cover. These solutions are expected to help companies manage financing needs, reduce export risks and build stronger international market capacity.

The initiative also facilitates strategic engagement between exporters, industry partners and MATRADE. Through these engagements, businesses can explore new financing opportunities, strengthen export readiness, build cross-border partnerships and identify sustainable pathways for global expansion.

MATRADE’s involvement is significant because the agency’s core mission is to promote Malaysian exports and help local companies establish their presence in foreign markets. Its official portal states that MATRADE connects Malaysian exporters to opportunities and partnerships across international markets while providing trade information, advisory support and export promotion services.

The partnership also fits into MATRADE’s wider 2026 export roadmap. Bernama previously reported that MATRADE has lined up 203 high-impact trade development and promotion programmes this year, designed to empower 13,400 Malaysian companies, particularly MSMEs, in the export market.

For Malaysian businesses, the BizConnect initiative comes at an important time as exporters face shifting global trade conditions, tariff uncertainty, supply chain disruption and stronger competition in international markets. By combining financing support with market intelligence and advisory services, the programme aims to give companies a more complete export support structure.

The initiative is also expected to help Malaysian companies move beyond traditional export preparation by strengthening their ability to compete in markets that demand better pricing, stronger branding, compliance readiness, sustainable practices and reliable supply chain partnerships.

BPMB’s broader Budget 2026 mandate includes supporting high-impact sectors, MSME transformation and export facilitation through its group structure, which includes SME Bank and EXIM Bank. BPMB said these initiatives reflect its role as Malaysia’s integrated development finance institution, supporting the Ekonomi MADANI agenda through impact-driven financing and export ecosystem development.

Overall, the BPMB-MATRADE BizConnect initiative is positioned as a practical platform to help Malaysian exporters scale internationally. By bridging access to capital, expertise and strategic networks, the programme is expected to strengthen business resilience, improve export readiness and help more Malaysian companies compete effectively in global markets.
