Blue Origin Rocket Explodes Violently During Test at Florida Launch Pad

Kuala Lumpur, May 29, 2026 – A Blue Origin rocket exploded dramatically, creating a massive fireball during a hotfire test at the launch pad in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

The incident occurred around 9 PM local time (2 AM GMT) during a pre-launch engine test. Dramatic video footage showed the rocket suddenly erupting into flames before a powerful explosion engulfed the area.

Blue Origin confirmed the “anomaly” in an official statement posted on social media. The company assured that all personnel are safe and accounted for.

Jeff Bezos, founder of Blue Origin, reacted on social media saying: “Too early to know the exact cause, but we’ve already begun investigating. Tough day, but we’ll rebuild what needs rebuilding and get back to space. This is all worth it.”

Emergency management officials in Brevard County confirmed there was no threat to the public. Emergency teams and U.S. Space Force personnel are currently at the site conducting an investigation.

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman described the incident as a reminder that “spaceflight is unforgiving,” while offering full support for the investigation.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said it is aware of the event but noted that this test was not conducted under an FAA license and had no impact on air traffic.

This explosion comes shortly after Blue Origin faced issues during the launch of its New Glenn rocket last month, where a satellite failed to reach the intended orbit. However, the company successfully launched New Glenn in November last year with the first successful booster landing.

Blue Origin, founded by Jeff Bezos in 2000, continues to develop heavy-lift space technology for future missions.

A full investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the anomaly.
