Fertiliser Factory and Engine Oil Storage Facility 90% Destroyed in Shah Alam Fire

KUALA LUMPUR, AUGUST 2026 — A fertiliser processing factory and vehicle engine oil storage facility at Jalan Bukit Cherakah, Section U9, near Monterez Golf Club in Shah Alam, was 90% destroyed in a fire on Wednesday night.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division assistant director Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the affected premises measured about 40 by 100 feet and involved a Class B building used for fertiliser processing and engine oil storage.

Authorities confirmed that no fatalities or injuries were reported in the incident. The cause of the fire and the total amount of losses remain under investigation.

The Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 10.49pm, with the first team from the Bukit Jelutong Fire and Rescue Station arriving at the scene about 10 minutes later.

A total of 25 officers and firefighters from Bukit Jelutong, Sungai Buloh, Shah Alam and Klang Utara fire stations were deployed to prevent the flames from spreading to surrounding areas.

The operation was also supported by 22 members from four volunteer fire brigades, including teams from Saujana Utama, Rantau Panjang, Kampung Delek and Serdang.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control at 11.23pm before fully extinguishing it at 1.25am. Rescue crews later carried out overhaul operations to ensure no remaining embers could reignite the fire.

Investigations are continuing to determine the cause of the fire and assess the full extent of the damage.
