KUALA LUMPUR, June 2026 — Police have arrested two women to assist investigations into the murder of a Myanmar national who was found stabbed to death at a house in Taman Belibis, Simpang Ampat.
The latest arrests bring the total number of suspects detained to three. Seberang Perai Selatan district police chief Superintendent Jay January Siowou said the two women were detained following the earlier arrest of the main suspect, a 38-year-old man.
According to police, the main suspect was apprehended by members of the public at the scene before being handed over to authorities on Sunday.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 3.20pm. The 31-year-old victim was confirmed dead at the scene after sustaining multiple stab wounds to his body.
Police also confirmed that a 26-year-old woman was injured in the same incident. She is currently receiving further treatment at Seberang Jaya Hospital. Earlier reports said the victim was killed while his wife was injured after they were allegedly attacked by a fellow countryman.
Jay January said preliminary investigations found that the incident is believed to have stemmed from a domestic dispute. However, police have not yet confirmed the full motive, and investigations are still ongoing.
Police also seized a knife believed to have been used in the incident. Investigators have also obtained CCTV footage from nearby areas, which is now being analysed as part of the investigation.
The victim’s body has been sent to the Seberang Jaya Hospital Forensic Unit for a post-mortem. The examination is expected to help determine the exact cause of death and provide further evidence for the investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt using a dangerous weapon.
Section 302 is one of the most serious provisions under Malaysian criminal law, as it deals with murder. Section 326 covers cases involving serious injury caused with a weapon or dangerous object.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact sequence of events before, during and after the stabbing. Statements are expected to be taken from the suspects, witnesses and people who were near the scene at the time of the incident.

The involvement of three detained individuals suggests that police are looking into whether others may have played a role before or after the incident. However, authorities have not released further details on the relationship between the detained women, the main suspect and the victim.
