TNG Digital Unveils Redesigned TNG eWallet As Platform Expands Beyond Payments

KUALA LUMPUR, June, 2026 – TNG Digital Sdn Bhd has announced a major redesign of the TNG eWallet app as the company continues its transformation from a payment-focused application into a broader everyday digital platform covering financial services, lifestyle and travel.

The refreshed design, introduced on June 4, 2026, reflects how Malaysian users are increasingly using TNG eWallet for more than just cashless payments. According to TNG Digital, non-payment business segments now contribute more than half of the company’s total revenue for the first time since its establishment.

TNG Digital chief executive officer Alan Ni said the app now serves more than 26 million verified users, including 13.5 million monthly active users who use the platform an average of twice a day.

Alan said TNG eWallet is no longer just a regular payment app. Malaysians are now using the platform to manage different parts of their daily lives, from growing their money and travelling overseas to paying bills and earning rewards.

The company said revenue from businesses outside core payments now contributes more than 50 per cent of total income, proving a major shift in how the market uses the platform. This marks an important milestone for TNG Digital as it expands its role in Malaysia’s digital economy.

The latest redesign also comes as overseas markets and international services become more important to the company. Cross-border payments, remittance and international services now contribute 10 per cent of TNG Digital’s revenue, while business-to-business services such as advertising and digital infrastructure account for 6 per cent of total revenue.

This shows that TNG Digital is no longer relying only on traditional e-wallet transactions. Instead, the company is building a wider ecosystem that includes financial tools, lifestyle services, travel features, merchant solutions and digital business services.

One of the biggest changes in the new TNG eWallet interface is the introduction of a search-first homepage. This feature allows users to access services more directly without going through multiple layers of menus.

The new design brings the app’s ecosystem into four main hubs. The first is GOfinance, which focuses on financial services. The second is Near Me, which helps users explore nearby food and beverage deals. The third is Bills, which is designed for utility and recurring payments. The fourth is Transport, which supports commuter and travel-related needs.

The four-hub structure is designed to make the app easier to use and more organised. Instead of placing all services in one crowded interface, TNG Digital is grouping key functions based on how users manage their daily activities.

For users, this could make the app feel more practical and less complicated. Those looking for finance-related services can go directly to GOfinance, while users who want to pay bills or look for transport features can access the relevant sections faster.

TNG Digital chief product and growth officer Chiew Wei Wing said the redesign also includes a reorganised bottom navigation bar built for one-handed use, especially for users who are actively moving.

According to Chiew, the company’s goal is to create a simpler, more personal platform that feels like it understands how users live their daily lives.

This direction reflects a wider trend in Malaysia’s fintech sector, where digital wallets are no longer used only for QR payments or balance transfers. Consumers increasingly expect e-wallets to support financial planning, shopping, bill payments, rewards, transport, international travel and lifestyle needs in one place.

TNG eWallet’s large verified user base also gives the company a major advantage. With 26 million verified users, the platform already has strong reach across Malaysia and can introduce new features to a large audience quickly.

However, with a larger ecosystem comes the challenge of keeping the app simple and easy to navigate. As e-wallet platforms add more services, user experience becomes more important. A cluttered app can make users frustrated, while a clean design can help increase engagement.

The search-first redesign appears to address this challenge by making discovery easier. Instead of requiring users to remember where each service is located, the new homepage allows them to search for what they need more quickly.

The shift towards non-payment revenue is also important from a business perspective. Payment services often operate on high volume but thinner margins. By expanding into financial services, international transactions, advertising and digital infrastructure, TNG Digital can build more diversified revenue streams.

This broader revenue mix may also make the company more resilient. If one segment slows down, other areas such as remittance, financial products, merchant services or lifestyle features may continue supporting growth.

The redesign also supports TNG Digital’s positioning as an everyday digital companion rather than just a payment tool. This is important because competition in Malaysia’s e-wallet and digital finance market remains intense, with banks, fintech companies and regional platforms all trying to capture user attention.

For Malaysian consumers, the new TNG eWallet design could make the app more useful for daily routines. Users may be able to move more smoothly between paying bills, checking nearby deals, managing money and using transport-related services.

For merchants and business partners, the redesigned interface could create more opportunities for visibility and engagement. Features such as Near Me, advertising and digital infrastructure services may help businesses reach users more directly through the app.

The growth of cross-border, remittance and international services also reflects changing user behaviour. Malaysians are travelling more, working across borders, sending money internationally and using digital platforms outside the domestic market. TNG Digital’s expansion in this area shows that e-wallet services are becoming more connected to regional mobility and global transactions.

The timing of the redesign is also significant as Malaysia continues to push towards a more cashless economy. E-wallet adoption has grown strongly in recent years, supported by QR payments, government digital incentives, online shopping and wider merchant acceptance.

Still, the next phase of growth is not only about getting more users to download the app. It is about encouraging users to rely on the platform more frequently for different parts of their lives. TNG Digital’s update suggests the company is focusing on deeper engagement rather than payment volume alone.

The redesign could also strengthen TNG eWallet’s role in financial inclusion. Through services under GOfinance, users may be able to access financial products more easily through the app, depending on the services available and their eligibility.

Overall, TNG Digital’s refreshed TNG eWallet design marks a major step in the company’s evolution from a payment app into a wider digital lifestyle and financial platform. With non-payment services now contributing more than half of revenue, the company is clearly moving into a new phase of growth.

The success of the redesign will depend on how well users respond to the new interface, whether the four hubs improve daily usability and how effectively TNG Digital can continue expanding services while keeping the app simple, fast and relevant.
