Google Unveils Pixel Tag With UWB and Find Hub Support to Rival Apple AirTag

KUALA LUMPUR, AUGUST 2026 — Google has officially launched the Pixel Tag, its first dedicated object-tracking device, positioning it as a new competitor to Apple’s AirTag and Samsung’s SmartTag. The device was introduced during the Made by Google 2026 event.

The oval-shaped tracker is equipped with Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology and Bluetooth Channel Sounding, allowing users to receive more accurate distance and directional guidance when searching for misplaced belongings.

Pixel Tag is integrated with Google’s Find Hub network, which uses a large network of Android devices worldwide to help locate tagged items even when they are outside normal Bluetooth range.

For durability, Google has built the tracker using a combination of metal and polycarbonate, while an IP67 rating provides protection against water and dust.

The device also includes a built-in speaker that can play an alert sound when users are searching for an item. A dedicated button on the Pixel Tag can also be used to make a misplaced smartphone ring.

Power comes from a user-replaceable CR2032 coin-cell battery, which Google says can provide more than one year of battery life under typical usage conditions.

Google confirmed that the Pixel Tag will go on sale on November 11, 2026, priced at US$29.99 for a single unit and US$99.99 for a four-pack. The tracker will initially be offered in one colour option called Fog.

With UWB precision tracking and access to the wider Android Find Hub ecosystem, Pixel Tag gives Google a direct entry into the growing smart-tracker market dominated by Apple and Samsung.
