Thailand PM Anutin Denies Cabinet Reshuffle Rumours, Warns Low-Profile Ministers

KUALA LUMPUR, JULY 2026- Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has dismissed speculation that a Cabinet reshuffle is set to take place soon, despite growing rumours in recent days. The speculation emerged after the postponement of a mobile Cabinet meeting that was earlier scheduled to be held in Phitsanulok.

Anutin explained that the postponement was due to current developments, particularly tensions along the Thailand-Cambodia border. However, he also used the moment to send a clear warning to ministers who have failed to highlight their ministry’s performance and achievements to the public.

Speaking at Government House, Anutin said ministers who are forgotten by the public could also be forgotten by the prime minister. He warned that if a minister is no longer remembered, there may be no need for that person to remain in the Cabinet.

According to Anutin, several ministers had already been reminded over the past two weeks to strengthen their public communication efforts. He urged them to explain their ministries’ work more actively so that citizens can understand the government’s achievements and policy outcomes.

The Thai prime minister said good performance alone is not enough if the public is unaware of what has been achieved. He acknowledged that communication remains one of the government’s weaknesses and must be improved to ensure policies, benefits and national initiatives are better understood by the people.

The warning comes at a sensitive time for Thailand’s political landscape, as rumours of a Cabinet reshuffle can create uncertainty within the government. By rejecting the speculation while placing pressure on ministers, Anutin appears to be trying to maintain Cabinet stability while pushing his administration to become more visible and responsive.

The issue also highlights the growing importance of public messaging in modern governance. In Anutin’s view, ministers must not only perform their duties effectively but also communicate results clearly, especially when government policies are expected to deliver visible benefits to citizens.
