BN Candidate Warren Yap Pledges To Boost Mengkibol Economy And Create More Jobs

KUALA LUMPUR, JULY 2026 – Barisan Nasional candidate for the Mengkibol state seat, Warren Yap Zhi Peng, has pledged to focus on economic development and job creation if given the mandate in the Johor State Election. Yap said many residents he met hoped to see Mengkibol’s economy revitalised after the area had fallen behind in development for many years.

According to Yap, one of the main concerns among local residents was the lack of economic activity and employment opportunities, especially for young people. So, strengthening the local economy is important to ensure more young people can remain in Mengkibol instead of leaving the area to look for employment elsewhere. He said developing the local economy would require close cooperation with the Johor state government to attract growth and open more job opportunities for the community.

According to Yap, residents want Mengkibol to move forward economically so that young people do not have to leave the area in search of work. He said the constituency had been left behind for nearly 20 years and needed a stronger development push to support the future of its people.

Yap also promised that if elected, he would listen to the voices of the people and work to ensure Mengkibol does not continue to lag behind in development. He said his commitment is to help the local community while working with the state government to strengthen the area’s economic base.

The Mengkibol state seat will see a straight fight between Yap, who is representing BN-MCA, and Pakatan Harapan’s DAP candidate Chu Poh Yee. The contest is expected to draw attention as both sides aim to win support in a constituency that has previously been held by PH-DAP.
