KUALA LUMPUR, JULY 2026 – Fabio Quartararo is not feeling overly confident ahead of the German MotoGP 2026, admitting that Sachsenring may not be an ideal circuit for Yamaha’s YZR-M1. The Monster Energy Yamaha rider said the German round will be a challenging weekend as the team tries to stay competitive before MotoGP enters its summer break.
The German MotoGP will be the final race before the mid-season break, making the weekend important for Quartararo and Yamaha. The French rider is hoping to end the first half of the campaign with a positive result, although he understands that the characteristics of Sachsenring could make the task difficult for his bike.
Quartararo arrives in Germany after finishing eighth at the Dutch MotoGP in Assen two weeks ago. He described the Assen race as physically demanding, but said Yamaha managed to extract the maximum possible result from the weekend.
Sachsenring also brings back strong memories for Quartararo. He won the German MotoGP in 2022, a victory that remains Yamaha’s last win in the premier class. However, the situation has changed since then, with Quartararo now admitting that the current Yamaha package faces a tougher challenge at the German circuit.
According to Quartararo, Sachsenring is a circuit filled with good memories, but it is no longer an easy track for Yamaha. He said the team will focus on the positive aspects, continue working hard and try to be competitive from the beginning of the race weekend.
The former MotoGP world champion is still targeting the strongest possible result before the summer break. To achieve that, Yamaha will need to find the right setup early in practice so Quartararo can fight for a better position in qualifying and the main race.
