PETRONAS To Supply LNG To Shizuoka Gas For Seven Years From 2032

KUALA LUMPUR, JULY 2026 – PETRONAS LNG Ltd. has signed a new Liquefied Natural Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement with Shizuoka Gas Co., Ltd., marking another step in the long-standing energy partnership between Malaysia’s national energy company and the Japanese gas utility.

Under the agreement, PETRONAS LNG Ltd. will supply approximately 0.84 million metric tonnes of LNG to Shizuoka Gas over a seven-year period beginning in 2032. The deal is expected to support Shizuoka Gas’ future energy requirements while providing greater supply flexibility and reliability.

The agreement also reinforces a business relationship that has lasted for three decades. PETRONAS said the partnership reflects mutual trust, shared growth and a continued commitment to long-term energy security as the global energy landscape becomes more dynamic.

The signing ceremony was held in Kuala Lumpur and attended by PETRONAS Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Gas and Maritime Business, Datuk Adif Zulkifli, together with Shizuoka Gas Representative Director and President, Yoshitake Matsumoto.

Through its diversified global LNG portfolio, PETRONAS aims to provide stable and flexible LNG solutions to customers worldwide. The company said such arrangements are becoming increasingly important as buyers seek greater resilience, reliability and energy security in a changing market environment.

The ceremony also marked the 30th anniversary of PETRONAS’ first LNG cargo delivery to Shizuoka Gas. This milestone highlights the continued role of Malaysian LNG in supporting Japan’s energy needs over the past three decades.

Beyond supply arrangements, PETRONAS and Shizuoka Gas are also looking to strengthen cooperation in decarbonisation along the LNG value chain. This shows that the partnership is not only focused on LNG trade, but also on adapting to future energy transition priorities.

The latest agreement strengthens PETRONAS’ position as one of the world’s leading LNG suppliers. It also reflects Malaysia’s continued relevance in the regional energy market, particularly as Asian customers seek long-term supply stability while balancing energy security and transition goals.
