Type 7 Restyles Porsche 911 Cup Fleet for Track Experience

KUALA LUMPUR, JULY 2026 – Type 7 has revealed a newly styled fleet of Porsche 911 Cup race cars created for the Porsche Track Experience, giving each vehicle a distinctive visual identity while preserving the unmistakable character of Porsche’s latest one-make racing model.

The automotive publication, which describes itself as being powered by Porsche, was given the opportunity to develop the liveries for a large collection of 992.2-generation Cup cars. The designs range from fresh, graphic-led concepts to schemes inspired by notable chapters in Porsche’s motorsport history.

The project was credited to designers Davide Chiappini and Ollie Stafford, whose work transformed the fleet into a varied collection rather than using a single standard colour scheme across every vehicle. Despite their visual differences, the cars share a consistent design language suited to the Porsche Track Experience programme.

Five cars in the collection were designed to communicate stories from the past, with three reportedly drawing directly from Porsche’s historical design catalogue. This approach allows the fleet to connect the latest generation of racing machinery with visual elements associated with earlier Porsche competition cars.

Among the highlighted designs are two pinstriped cars. One combines a black base with yellow detailing, while the other pairs navy blue with lighter blue accents. Both use fine horizontal lines to create a more complex graphic treatment when viewed from close range.

Other cars in the fleet were described as deeper historical references intended for enthusiasts familiar with less widely recognised Porsche racing designs. Together, the liveries demonstrate how colour, typography and pattern can be used to give identical competition cars separate identities without changing their technical specification.

The vehicles underneath the designs are based on the latest Porsche 911 Cup, developed from the 992.2 generation of the 911. Porsche introduced the model for the 2026 racing season as the successor to its previous one-make competition car.

The rear-wheel-drive race car is powered by a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre six-cylinder boxer engine producing approximately 520 horsepower. Power is delivered through a six-speed sequential transmission, while the vehicle has an approximate weight of 1,288 kilograms.

Porsche also redesigned the car’s aerodynamics, braking system, steering and cockpit controls. The updated front bodywork reflects the design of the 992.2-generation 911 GT3, while aerodynamic revisions are intended to provide sharper front-axle response and more precise positioning at high speeds.

The new 911 Cup was introduced for use in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, Carrera Cup championships and other Porsche-sanctioned racing series beginning with the 2026 season. The model continues to serve as an important development platform for professional competitors and emerging Porsche junior drivers.

Within the Porsche Track Experience, participants can progress through structured driving programmes ranging from introductory circuit sessions to advanced race-car training. Selected programmes include guided driving, professional coaching, data analysis and access to the Porsche 911 Cup as a rental vehicle.

The newly designed liveries help distinguish the Track Experience fleet while reinforcing Porsche’s connection between motorsport, design and brand culture. They also provide participants and spectators with recognisable visual references across different vehicles used during circuit programmes.

By combining the latest Porsche racing technology with designs influenced by both contemporary graphics and historic competition cars, the collaboration turns the 911 Cup fleet into a moving presentation of the brand’s racing heritage.
