Tabung Haji Re-Emerges as Major Shareholder in Focus Point with 5.056% Stake

KUALA LUMPUR, JULY 2026 – Lembaga Tabung Haji has re-emerged as a substantial shareholder in Focus Point Holdings Bhd after purchasing an additional 570,000 ordinary shares in the optical retail and eye-care group.

According to a filing submitted to Bursa Malaysia, the transaction was completed on July 21, 2026. The acquisition increased Tabung Haji’s direct interest from approximately 4.96% to 5.056%, taking its total holding to 31,078,666 ordinary shares.

The percentage calculation excludes 1.338 million ordinary shares that Focus Point had repurchased and retained as treasury shares.

Of Tabung Haji’s total direct holding, approximately 23.18 million shares are registered directly under the pilgrimage fund. The remaining 7.898 million shares, including the newly acquired securities, are held through Citigroup Nominees (Tempatan) Sdn Bhd under Lembaga Tabung Haji’s Eastspring account.

The latest purchase marks Tabung Haji’s return as a substantial shareholder in Focus Point after it briefly held the same status for four days in February 2025.

Focus Point’s largest shareholder remains Sustain Focus Sdn Bhd, the family investment vehicle linked to president and chief executive officer Datuk Liaw Choon Liang, with a direct stake of 28.46%. Executive director Goh Poi Eong holds 12.88%, Liaw owns 8.86% directly, while Perbadanan Nasional Bhd controls about 8.45%.

Focus Point operates an optical and eye-care retail network that provides eyewear products and professional eye-examination services. The Shariah-compliant company is also included in the Bursa Malaysia Quality 50 Index and Bursa Malaysia Quality 50 Shariah Index.

The group recorded a quarterly net profit of RM9.19 million for the three months ended March 31, 2026, compared with RM7.9 million during the corresponding period a year earlier. The performance represented a record quarterly profit for the company.

Focus Point shares closed unchanged at 51 sen following the disclosure, giving the company a market capitalisation of approximately RM313.5 million. The counter had gained 5.15% since the beginning of 2026.

The acquisition strengthens Tabung Haji’s position among Focus Point’s institutional shareholders while drawing renewed market attention to the company’s ownership structure and recent financial performance.
