Family of Three Killed in Hulu Langat Crash, Driver Tests Positive for Drugs

KUALA LUMPUR, JULY 2026 — A family of three died after the motorcycle they were travelling on collided with a Perodua Aruz along Jalan Batu 17 in Hulu Langat, Kajang.

The crash occurred at approximately 7.56am on July 29, involving a 34-year-old mechanic, his 32-year-old wife and their three-year-old son. All three victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Kajang District Police Chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said the family had been travelling from their home in Batu 18, Hulu Langat, towards Nanding when the accident occurred.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the Perodua Aruz was believed to have entered the motorcycle’s path, resulting in a collision.

The impact reportedly threw all three victims from the motorcycle. Despite emergency response efforts, they were confirmed dead at the scene.

Police subsequently arrested the 42-year-old driver of the car after an initial urine screening allegedly tested positive for methamphetamine.

Checks also found that the suspect had two previous criminal records related to drug offences, according to police.

The driver was scheduled to be brought before the Kajang Court for a remand application to facilitate further investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which covers offences involving driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs resulting in death or injury.

Police are continuing investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision, including the movements of both vehicles before the impact.
