Seven-Acre Forest Fire Breaks Out Near Sepang Police Headquarters

KUALA LUMPUR,AUGUST 2026 — A forest fire covering an estimated seven acres was reported in a hilly area near the Sepang District Police Headquarters early Monday morning.

The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 1.28am. The affected location was along the route from Nilai towards Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi, shortly before the Sepang police headquarters.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division Assistant Director Asrul Riezal Asbar said the first firefighting vehicle from the KLIA Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene at 1.48am, around 20 minutes after the emergency call was received.

Initial assessments found that the blaze involved a forested hillside located beside the Sepang District Police Headquarters, with the affected area estimated at approximately seven acres.

Firefighters immediately began containment efforts to prevent the flames from spreading into surrounding areas.

A total of 14 firefighters from the KLIA Fire and Rescue Station were involved in the operation, with additional assistance provided by personnel from the Sepang Fire and Rescue Station.

Three emergency vehicles were deployed to support the operation. They consisted of a Fire Rescue Tender, a Light Fire Rescue Tender and a water tanker.

The equipment and personnel were positioned to contain the fire and maintain sufficient water supplies throughout the firefighting operation.

The hilly terrain presented operational challenges, as firefighters had to gain access to the burning forest area while preventing the blaze from expanding towards nearby locations.

Authorities continued monitoring the fire while extinguishing active flames and identifying sections that could potentially reignite.

The cause of the fire had not been determined at the time of the official statement.

Authorities were also still assessing the extent of the damage and any financial losses associated with the incident.

The firefighting operation remained ongoing when the latest update was issued.

Further details are expected after the operation is completed and investigators have assessed the affected site.

The incident highlights the risk of vegetation fires spreading quickly across forested and hilly terrain, particularly when access is limited.

Members of the public are advised to avoid activities that could trigger open fires and to report uncontrolled flames or heavy smoke to emergency services immediately.
