U Mobile Launches EIP Hub to Accelerate 5G-Advanced and AI Innovation

KUALA LUMPUR, AUGUST 2026 – U Mobile has launched the Enterprise Innovation Platform (EIP) Hub, a collaborative innovation centre designed to help organisations develop, test and validate practical solutions powered by 5G-Advanced and artificial intelligence.

The hub was officially launched by Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil and is intended to bring together enterprises, technology companies, academic institutions, advisory panels and public-sector agencies under a single ecosystem.

Built on U Mobile’s 5G-Advanced infrastructure, the EIP Hub allows organisations to experiment with new technologies before deploying them at a larger operational scale.

The platform is designed to reduce implementation risks, speed up technology adoption and help companies turn digital concepts into measurable business outcomes.

U Mobile said many organisations no longer struggle only with generating new ideas. A growing challenge is ensuring those ideas can be transformed into practical solutions capable of delivering real operational and commercial value.

The EIP Hub is therefore positioned as a testing and validation environment where businesses can refine concepts before committing to broader deployment.

The ecosystem includes major strategic partners such as Amazon Web Services, Huawei Malaysia, Palo Alto Networks, Qualcomm and Agibot.

Other participating technology companies include ZTE Malaysia, China Mobile International, Meraque Group, Braintree Technologies, Tapway and Akila.

The platform also involves organisations such as MRANTI, Cradle Fund and the International Islamic University Malaysia, creating links between technology expertise, talent development, academic research and enterprise innovation.

U Mobile chief executive officer Wong Heang Tuck said the company’s ambition extends beyond simply providing telecommunications connectivity.

He said U Mobile wants to build digital infrastructure capable of supporting Malaysia’s next phase of economic growth and helping organisations adopt emerging technologies with greater confidence.

Through the EIP and EIP Hub, organisations can explore new technologies, develop practical applications and scale solutions using U Mobile’s 5G-Advanced network.

The company said the initiative also supports Malaysia’s broader ambition to become a leading digital nation through closer cooperation between government, industry, academia and technology partners.

During the launch, U Mobile demonstrated four internally developed solutions showcasing potential applications of 5G and AI.

These included a Visual Intelligence system for real-time operational monitoring, a Digital Twin platform for predictive asset management, 5G-enabled drones for autonomous patrols and intelligent humanoid robots designed to automate selected operations and improve productivity.

Partners within the ecosystem also showcased industry-specific applications.

Among them was AgriNXT, a smart agriculture solution associated with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, as well as an AI-powered smart retail solution by Qualcomm.

Huawei also presented its Smart Ward Solution, which integrates 5G, Fixed Wireless Access and Internet of Things technologies to enable real-time monitoring of patients in hospitals.

These demonstrations illustrate how the platform could support digital transformation across sectors including healthcare, agriculture, retail, manufacturing, security and logistics.

The launch was followed by a two-day Executive Innovation Forum involving industry leaders, technology partners and innovators.

The forum focused on practical applications of 5G-Advanced and AI while also creating opportunities for new partnerships and collaborative projects.

Looking ahead, U Mobile plans to expand the EIP Hub ecosystem through strategic partnerships, proof-of-concept projects, pilot programmes and solution validation initiatives.

The company expects these efforts to accelerate digital adoption across multiple industries and help businesses move more quickly from experimentation to commercial implementation.
