YTL Power Highlights Malaysia’s AI Leadership During G20 Visit to Johannesburg

Johannesburg, El Sky News – During a high-profile diplomatic visit to South Africa accompanying Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, YTL Power International showcased Malaysia’s rapidly advancing artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, including its homegrown large language model (LLM) ILMU and the newly launched digital bank, Ryt Bank. The demonstration highlighted Malaysia’s ambition to become a serious player in the global AI sector, combining advanced technology with local innovation.

YTL Power has invested around RM 10 billion into AI infrastructure, including state-of-the-art data centres, GPU chips, and the development of ILMU. Their Green Data Centre Park in Kulai, Johor, is being equipped with high-performance NVIDIA Grace Blackwell chips, establishing a foundation for a sovereign AI cloud.

ILMU, which stands for Intelek Luhur Malaysia Untukmu, is a multimodal model developed by YTL AI Labs in collaboration with local universities. It understands Malay, English, and regional dialects, and is designed to perform on par with leading global AI models.

Ryt Bank is Malaysia’s first AI-powered digital bank, deeply integrated with ILMU. By presenting these innovations on the international stage, YTL Power aims to attract partnerships and position Malaysia not just as a consumer of AI technology, but as a creator and exporter of intelligent solutions.
