SHAH ALAM, March 10 — Police are investigating a suspected arson attack after masked men set fire to three vehicles belonging to a teacher known as Cikgu Chandra in Shah Alam, Selangor in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The incident was captured on video that has since circulated on social media, showing several individuals wearing masks approaching a row of parked vehicles before setting them alight and fleeing the scene.
Three Cars Torched in Arson Attack
According to police reports, the three vehicles — all owned by the victim, widely known locally as Cikgu (Teacher) Chandra — were completely engulfed in flames after the group of masked men struck at around 3.30am near a residential area in Shah Alam.
Firefighters were alerted shortly after the blaze began and arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire, but the vehicles were badly damaged. No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
Police Launch Investigation
Shah Alam district police chief ACP Mohd Nadzri Hussain said officers have classified the case as arson and are currently investigating to identify and apprehend the suspects.
“We have obtained footage of the incident and are reviewing it as part of our investigation,” ACP Mohd Nadzri said. “We are also appealing to anyone with additional information or who may have seen suspicious activity in the area around the time of the incident to come forward and assist with enquiries.”
Police have urged the public not to speculate on the motive at this stage as investigations are ongoing.
Viral Video Garners Public Attention
A video purporting to show the attack has been widely shared on social media, prompting concern from residents and netizens.
The footage shows masked individuals approaching a line of vehicles and intentionally setting them on fire before fleeing on foot. The speed at which the attack was carried out and the apparent planning behind it have raised questions among local residents about public safety.
Authorities say the video materials will be used to help identify the perpetrators.
Victim Known in Community
The owner of the vehicles, Cikgu Chandra — a well‑known teacher in the local community — has not publicly commented on the attack. Friends and neighbours have expressed shock and condemnation over the incident, saying they hope the police will quickly bring those responsible to justice.
Residents in the area also reiterated concerns about security and urged authorities to increase patrols to deter similar attacks.

Law enforcement has reiterated its appeal for witnesses to come forward with any information, including dashcam footage or photos that may assist in identifying the masked individuals.
ACP Mohd Nadzri said anyone with relevant information can contact the Shah Alam district police headquarters directly or submit information anonymously.
“We take all acts of arson seriously,” he said, “and will work diligently to ensure those responsible are held accountable.”
