Malaysia Calls for Immediate Ceasefire in Middle East Amid Rising Tensions

KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has issued a stern call for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in the Middle East, as escalating hostilities threaten to plunge the region into a full-scale humanitarian and economic catastrophe.

In a statement addressing the recent military exchanges involving Israel, the United States, and Iran, the Prime Minister emphasized that Malaysia remains “deeply concerned” over the blatant disregard for international sovereignty and the mounting loss of civilian lives.

Defending International Law

Malaysia has characterized the recent strikes on Iranian territory as a direct violation of the United Nations Charter and the principles of international law. Anwar highlighted that such provocations only serve to destabilize an already volatile region and risk a wider, uncontrollable conflict.

“The cycle of violence must end. We urge all parties to exercise maximum restraint and return to the path of diplomacy before the situation reaches a point of no return,” Anwar stated during a press briefing.
