Kidurong Woman Killed After Car Skids and Crashes into Guardrail on Pan Borneo Highway

KUALA LUMPUR, April, 2026 — A woman from Kidurong in Bintulu was killed in a single-vehicle accident after her car skidded and crashed into a guardrail along the Pan Borneo Highway in Sarawak early Friday morning. Police said the incident occurred at about 1.40am at Kilometre 65 of the Sibu–Bintulu road near Sungai Kua when the victim was driving alone from Bintulu toward Sibu. According to Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias, preliminary investigations suggest that the driver lost control of the vehicle while navigating a curve along the highway. The car subsequently skidded off the road and crashed into a roadside guardrail. Authorities said the force of the impact was severe, causing the driver to be thrown out of the vehicle during the crash. The victim, identified as a 34-year-old local woman from RPR Kidurong in Bintulu, suffered serious injuries. She sustained severe injuries to the head, body, and right leg and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding authorities.Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. The case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which covers reckless or dangerous driving resulting in death. Authorities are also urging any witnesses to come forward to assist in the investigation. Following the incident, police reminded motorists to remain vigilant, especially when driving at night or on curved roads.Drivers are advised to reduce speed, stay alert, and ensure vehicles are in safe condition before travelling long distances, particularly on major highways like the Pan Borneo route, which connects multiple cities across Sarawak.Officials say road accidents caused by loss of vehicle control remain a common risk, particularly in areas with sharp curves and limited nighttime visibility.
