Iran Reveals New Proposal To End War With US, Demands Sanctions Relief And Troop Withdrawal

Kuala Lumpur, 20 May— Iran has revealed key details of its latest proposal submitted to the United States in an effort to end the ongoing war involving Washington and Israel, as diplomatic efforts continue through Pakistani mediation.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi disclosed the proposal during a meeting with members of Iran’s parliamentary National Security and Foreign Policy Committee. According to Iranian state media, the proposal stresses Tehran’s right to uranium enrichment and peaceful nuclear activities.

The plan also calls for an end to conflicts on all fronts, including Lebanon, the lifting of the US naval blockade, the release of frozen Iranian assets, and compensation from Washington for war damage to support reconstruction efforts. Iran is also demanding the removal of unilateral sanctions and UN Security Council resolutions, as well as the withdrawal of US forces from areas surrounding the Islamic Republic.

The latest proposal comes after Tehran delivered its response to a US peace plan through Pakistan on May 10. However, US President Donald Trump rejected the earlier Iranian proposal, describing it as unacceptable. Iranian media later reported that Tehran had submitted a revised 14-point plan through Pakistani mediators.

Tensions remain high despite ongoing talks. Trump recently warned that the United States could launch another strike on Iran if no agreement is reached soon. He also said he had postponed a planned attack after receiving appeals from Gulf allies, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

The conflict has also increased pressure on global energy markets, particularly due to disruption around the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for oil and liquefied natural gas shipments. Reuters reported that issues delaying negotiations include Iran’s nuclear programme and control over the strait, where shipping traffic has been severely affected.

For now, Iran insists that any lasting agreement must include a permanent end to hostilities, the lifting of sanctions, guarantees against future attacks, and recognition of its security concerns. The United States, meanwhile, continues to demand assurances that Iran will not obtain nuclear weapons.

With both sides still holding firm on major conditions, the peace process remains uncertain. However, the latest proposal shows that Tehran is still using diplomatic channels to push for a deal while warning that any renewed military action would trigger a strong response.
