Israel Intensifies Bombardment on Lebanon, Strikes Beyond Security Zone

Kuala Lumpur — Israel has significantly escalated its military operations in Lebanon, launching more than 120 airstrikes overnight in one of the heaviest bombardments in recent weeks.

The attacks, which extended beyond the southern security zone, resulted in at least 31 deaths, according to Lebanese officials. This marks a major intensification of Israeli operations against Hezbollah targets in the country.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the Israeli military has stepped up its operations in Lebanon, describing the strikes as necessary to neutralize threats from Hezbollah militants.

The strikes come amid ongoing tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border, despite previous ceasefire efforts. Many of the attacks targeted areas in southern Lebanon, with reports of strikes hitting villages and infrastructure further north than usual.

Lebanese authorities and Hezbollah have condemned the escalation, vowing to respond to what they called “aggressive Israeli violations.”

This latest wave of attacks has raised fears of a full-scale resumption of conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, further destabilizing the already fragile situation in the region.
