Police Officer Killed After Car Skids And Crashes In Pasir Puteh

KUALA LUMPUR, JULY 2026 – A police officer was killed after being thrown out of the car he was driving when the vehicle lost control and crashed at KM 30 of the Pasir Puteh-Kota Bharu federal road, near Simpang Kampung Banir Belikong in Pasir Puteh.

Pasir Puteh district police chief Supt Saari Yaacob said the incident happened at about 11.50pm. The 28-year-old victim, who was attached to the Setiu district police headquarters in Terengganu, was believed to be on his way home to Pasir Puteh from Kota Bharu.

Preliminary investigations found that the Perodua Kelisa driven by the victim was believed to have gone out of control before skidding off Kelisa driven by the victim was believed to have gone out of control before skidding ct of the crash caused the victim to be thrown out of the vehicle.

The victim suffered serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police saids are being carried out to determine the exact cause of the crash.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which involves reckless or dangerous driving causing death. Members of the public with informatident have been urged to come forward to assist the investigation.

Police said anyone with information may contact the traffic investigating officer at the Pasir Puteh district police headquarters or visit the nearest police station. The incident adds to ooad safety, especially during late-night travel on federal routes.
