12 Men Arrested After Brawl During World Cup Final Screening in Johor Bahru

KUALA LUMPUR, JULY 2026 – What began as a lively gathering to watch the 2026 FIFA World Cup final turned chaotic after a group of men became involved in a brawl at a restaurant in Taman Daya early Monday morning.

The incident reportedly occurred at approximately 5.40am on July 20, 2026. Videos circulating on social media showed several individuals fighting inside and around the premises, with some appearing to use objects believed to be weapons.

Police subsequently arrested 12 men believed to have been involved in the confrontation. The suspects were detained to assist investigations into the disturbance and the circumstances that led to the violence.

Preliminary information indicated that the altercation began after a group was reprimanded for allegedly obstructing an access route near the restaurant. The situation then escalated from a verbal disagreement into a physical fight involving several individuals.

The restaurant was hosting customers watching the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina. Spain secured its second World Cup title after defeating Argentina 1-0 in extra time.
