KUALA LUMPUR, AUGUST 2026 – Four Indonesian nationals were injured after the car they were travelling in skidded, crashed into a road divider and overturned on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) near Ipoh early on Sunday, August 9, 2026.
The Perak Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at about 5.28am regarding the accident. Upon arrival, rescuers found a Proton Persona that had struck the metal divider before overturning.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division Assistant Director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the four victims comprised two men and two women from Indonesia. Two of the victims were identified as a 32-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, while the identities of the other two had yet to be confirmed.
Three of the victims had already managed to leave the vehicle before firefighters arrived. Another male victim remained inside the car but was not trapped. He was later assisted out of the vehicle by firefighters.
All four victims suffered injuries, including wounds to the head and face. They received initial treatment from Ministry of Health personnel and firefighters at the scene before being taken to hospital by ambulance for further treatment.
A total of seven firefighters from the Meru Raya Fire and Rescue Station were involved in the operation, which ended at about 6.20am.
The incident highlights the importance of remaining alert while driving, particularly during early-morning journeys when fatigue and reduced visibility can increase the risk of road accidents.
