Four Shoplots, Car and Pickup Truck Destroyed in Early-Morning Taiping Fire

KUALA LUMPUR, AUGUST 2026 — Four double-storey shoplots and two vehicles were extensively damaged in a fire that broke out at Jalan Simpang Halt, Simpang Halt, Taiping, early Tuesday morning.

The Perak Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call through the 999 system at approximately 1.48am, prompting firefighters from the Taiping Fire and Rescue Station to be dispatched to the location, about 10 kilometres from the station.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division Assistant Director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the fire initially involved three Class B double-storey shoplots, each measuring approximately 20 feet by 100 feet.

The three premises were estimated to be about 70% damaged before flames spread to a fourth shoplot. The fourth unit was subsequently about 80% destroyed by the fire.

The blaze also affected a car and a pickup truck, with both vehicles suffering approximately 90% fire damage.

Despite the extensive destruction to the buildings and vehicles, authorities confirmed that no victims were involved in the incident.

Upon arriving at the scene, the operation commander carried out an initial assessment before implementing the RECEO firefighting strategy. Firefighters equipped with full personal protective equipment were then deployed to contain and extinguish the flames.

Additional assistance was provided by personnel and fire engines from the Bagan Serai and Kamunting Fire and Rescue Stations, together with volunteer fire brigades from Kuala Sepetang and Bagan Serai.

A total of 30 firefighters were involved in the operation.

The fire was successfully brought under control at approximately 2.32am, while the entire operation was completed at 4.37am.

The incident caused extensive damage to the row of commercial premises and the two vehicles, but the absence of casualties prevented the blaze from becoming an even more serious tragedy.

The initial report did not state the cause of the fire or provide an estimate of the total losses.
