SMK Juasseh Laboratory Roof Collapses, No Injuries Reported

KUALA LUMPUR, AUGUST 2026 — The roof of a building at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Juasseh in Kuala Pilah collapsed on Tuesday, triggering an emergency response by the Negeri Sembilan Fire and Rescue Department.

The incident occurred at around 12 noon, but authorities confirmed that no students, teachers or other individuals were injured in the collapse.

The Negeri Sembilan Fire and Rescue Department’s Operations Centre received an emergency call at 12.08pm before personnel from the Kuala Pilah Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the school.

A Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) team from Seremban 2 was also deployed because chemical substances were reportedly stored inside the affected building.

Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed that the roof had collapsed at a section of the school building located on the third floor, which houses a school laboratory.

Initial inspections found that nobody was trapped or injured in the affected area.

Emergency personnel continued monitoring the site because of reports that chemical materials were present inside the laboratory building.

The specific chemicals involved had not yet been identified at the time of the initial report.

Authorities ordered the building to be evacuated as a precautionary measure to protect students, teachers and staff while emergency teams assessed the situation.
