Decomposed Body Found Inside Locked Proton Wira Parked for Days in Baling

KUALA LUMPUR,MAY,2026 – A decomposed body was found inside a locked Proton Wira that had reportedly been parked for several days along Jalan Jerat Cina in Tawar, Baling, Kedah, prompting firefighters to force open the vehicle before handing the matter over to police.

According to reports, firefighters from the Baling Fire and Rescue Station were called to the scene after members of the public discovered a person inside the locked car. The victim was found seated in the front passenger seat of the vehicle.

Baling Fire and Rescue Station chief Assistant Fire Superintendent Zulkhairi Mat Tanjil said the department received an emergency call for assistance at 12.15pm. A team of seven firefighters, led by Senior Fire Officer II Zulhelmi Bahari, was immediately deployed to the location.

Upon arrival, the rescue team found that the vehicle was locked and special equipment was needed to gain access. Firefighters then forced open the Proton Wira in an operation that took about 10 minutes. After the vehicle was opened, the team confirmed that a victim was inside.

Zulkhairi said members of the public informed authorities that the car had been parked at the location since Thursday. A strong foul smell was also detected from the vehicle, suggesting that the body had already begun to decompose by the time it was discovered.

The victim has not yet been identified. After the vehicle was opened and the body was confirmed, the case was handed over to police for further action, including identification, investigation and post-mortem procedures.

The operation concluded at about 2.25pm, after firefighters completed their assistance at the scene. No further details have been released on the victim’s identity, cause of death or whether there were any signs of criminal elements.

The discovery has raised concern among residents in the area, especially as the car had reportedly remained at the roadside for several days before authorities were alerted. Cases involving bodies found inside vehicles often require careful investigation because the cause of death may not be immediately clear at the scene.

Police are expected to investigate several possibilities, including the victim’s identity, how long the person had been inside the vehicle, whether the car belonged to the deceased, and whether any suspicious circumstances were involved.

The incident also highlights the importance of public awareness when vehicles are left unattended for unusually long periods, especially when there are signs of danger such as foul odour, visible distress, or suspected human presence inside.
