Suzuki eVitara Arrives in Malaysia as Compact Electric SUV with 426 KM WLTP Range

KUALA LUMPUR, JUNE 2026 — Suzuki has officially launched the new Suzuki eVitara in Malaysia, marking the brand’s latest entry into the local electric vehicle market.

Distributed by Naza Eastern Motors, the compact electric SUV is now open for booking and will be offered in limited units for Malaysian buyers.

The Suzuki eVitara is priced at RM188,000 on-the-road without insurance. This makes it RM10,000 cheaper than its close twin, the Toyota Urban Cruiser, which was introduced in Malaysia earlier this year at RM198,000.

Both the Suzuki eVitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser are fully imported CBU models from India and are produced at the same manufacturing plant.

First introduced globally in November 2024, the Suzuki eVitara is built on the Heartect-e platform, a dedicated electric vehicle architecture developed for compact EV models.

In terms of size, the SUV measures 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,635 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. It also offers 180 mm of ground clearance and has a kerb weight of 1,891 kg.

For the Malaysian market, the eVitara is offered in a single front-wheel-drive variant powered by one electric motor. The motor produces 174 PS and 193 Nm of torque.

Power comes from a 61.1 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery supplied by BYD and produced in India. On a full charge, the SUV is capable of travelling up to 426 km based on the WLTP cycle.

Charging support includes AC charging up to 7 kW and DC fast charging up to 67 kW. With DC fast charging, the battery can be charged from 15 percent to 80 percent in around 45 minutes. A full charge using a 7 kW AC charger takes about nine hours.

Performance figures include a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 7.4 seconds and a top speed of 150 km/h.

Although the eVitara shares its basic platform and body shape with the Toyota Urban Cruiser, Suzuki has given the SUV its own design identity. The front end features a distinctive hexagonal grille and a three-point matrix-style lighting signature.

The model comes with LED projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, LED fog lamps and 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels wrapped in 225/55 tyres.

Inside, the cabin layout is modern and closely related to the Toyota Urban Cruiser. It features a two-tone interior theme, gloss black and dark silver trim, a two-spoke steering wheel and a floating centre console with an electronic gear selector.

The eVitara also comes with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen.

Standard equipment includes Qi wireless smartphone charging, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a sunroof with manual shade, and seats finished in a mix of perforated synthetic leather, melange fabric and brown synthetic leather.

Unlike the Toyota Urban Cruiser, which uses a JBL sound system, the Suzuki eVitara is fitted with an Infinity audio system.

Safety features are also comprehensive. The electric SUV is equipped with adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure prevention, post-collision braking, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, adaptive high beam, surround view camera and parking sensors.

The eVitara also comes with seven airbags, including front, side, curtain and driver knee airbags.

Five exterior colour choices are available for Malaysia. These include Celestial Blue Pearl Metallic, Bluish Black Pearl and three two-tone options: Land Breeze Green Pearl Metallic, Splendid Silver Pearl Metallic and Grandeur Grey Pearl Metallic, each paired with a Bluish Black Pearl roof.

For ownership support, Suzuki Malaysia is offering a five-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty, a five-year or 100,000 km warranty for EV components, and an eight-year or 160,000 km battery warranty.

Naza Eastern Motors is also offering five years of free EV charging at selected dealers for the first 10 buyers, subject to terms and conditions.

The launch of the Suzuki eVitara gives Malaysian EV buyers another compact electric SUV option, especially for those looking for a Japanese-brand EV with practical range, modern safety features and a more accessible price compared to its Toyota twin.
