Man Dies After Fallen Tree Crushes Car on Jalan Tun Razak

KUALA LUMPUR, JULY 2026 – A 43-year-old man died after the car he was driving was struck by a falling tree along Jalan Tun Razak on Saturday night.

The incident occurred at approximately 10.20pm in front of Dua Residensi, near the Singapore High Commission in Kuala Lumpur. The fallen tree struck two vehicles travelling through the area.

Dang Wangi district police chief Assistant Commissioner Sazalee Adam said the male driver suffered injuries to both arms and internal bleeding in his chest.

The victim was transported to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment but died at approximately 4am on Sunday.

A second vehicle carrying seven people was also struck by the tree. Those inside ranged in age from two months to 57 years old.

All seven occupants were taken to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for further examination and treatment. Initial physical examinations found no visible external injuries among them.

Emergency responders worked at the scene to remove the fallen tree and manage the affected vehicles. Kuala Lumpur City Hall personnel completed tree-cutting and clearing operations at approximately midnight.

Both vehicles were subsequently towed away from Jalan Tun Razak to allow traffic movement in the area to return to normal.

The authorities had not disclosed the cause of the tree’s collapse in the initial report. Further assessment may be required to determine whether the incident was linked to the tree’s condition, surrounding soil or weather conditions.

The fatal incident highlights the risks posed by falling trees along busy urban roads, particularly in areas with heavy daily traffic and nearby residential or diplomatic buildings.

Motorists are advised to remain cautious during severe weather, avoid stopping beneath large roadside trees where possible and follow instructions issued by emergency personnel when roads are affected by fallen branches or trees.
