Two Cyclists Killed After Being Hit by Vehicle in Putrajaya

KUALA LUMPUR, AUGUST 2026 — Two Malaysian cyclists died after being hit by a vehicle along Jalan Persiaran Selatan in Putrajaya on Thursday night, according to police.

Putrajaya district police chief ACP Aidi Sham Mohamed said the crash occurred at about 10.15pm at Kilometre 9.0 of Jalan Persiaran Selatan. The incident involved a local male driver in his 40s and two male cyclists, one in his 40s and the other in his 30s.

Initial investigations found that the vehicle was travelling in the middle lane before changing direction into the left lane, where it collided with the two cyclists.

Both victims suffered severe injuries to their head and facial areas and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not disclosed the identities of the two victims in the initial report.

Police are continuing investigations under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which covers cases involving dangerous or reckless driving resulting in death.

At this stage, the investigation remains ongoing and no finding of criminal liability has been made against the driver.

Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant information to assist the investigation.
